The South Somerset Radio and Electronics Club has been set to promote ideas about radio electronics and computing. It is aimed at people who have an interest in designing and building electronics and radios, as well as using radios and electronics with computers. It is aimed at those people who interested in; amateur radio, radio as a means of distant control, everyday electronics, radio control and wifi. Members will be given the chance to design and build their own equipment, build kits and have them checked and tested and to bring in faulty equipment and be shown how to repair it where possible. The founder members of the club are all licence Radio Amateurs, and at least two are Tutors for the Radio Society of Great Britain RSGB, capable of teaching anyone who is interested how to take their amateur radio licence. These tutors are able to take intersected candidates from Foundation Level, through to Intermediate and then to Full Advanced Licence.Meeting will initially be held once a month, on the second Tuesday of each month, at the Chilthorne Domer Sports Hall near Yeovil (between Yeovil and Ilchester). At the venue we shall have a variety of test equipment, as well as a number of shortwave and VHF radios. The Village Hall is next door to a large field where we hope to erect a number of antennas for our use.
So if you have an interest in radios, electronics, and computers attached to radios, then come and join us at our inaugural meeting on Tuesday September 14th. Check out our web site on www.c-e-c.net
